Ticking off endemic penguins at Antipodes Islands
A foggy dawn greeted us at the Antipodes Islands, along with the loud and distinctive calls of Erect-crested Penguins. Soon, a miraculous weather transformation revealed the islands' full glory as the fog disappeared—wow!
We all enjoyed a spectacular Zodiac cruise along the other-worldly cliffs, where both Antipodes and Reischek’s Parakeets made appearances, along with no shortage of Rockhopper and Erect-crested Penguins—the ‘remaining penguin’ for several bird listers!
After an al fresco barbeque to celebrate our visit, Captain Jacek took Heritage Adventurer to circumnavigate the entire group of islands—an exhilarating finale to an extraordinary day.
