Arriving to an Auckland Island Adventure
It was an idyllic start to 2023 as Heritage Adventurer sailed into the Auckland Islands Carnley Harbour where we were met by sunshine, pristine blue waters, light winds and calm seas - a good omen for the New Year.
We spent the morning in Carnley Harbour beginning with a Zodiac cruise to the dramatic Victoria Passage and along the cliffs topped by flowering Southern Rata and megaherbs, filled with birdsong and seabirds by the shore.
The ideal afternoon weather conditions in Musgrave Inlet allowed for a walk to Lake Hinemoa, plus cruising into caves and past a Rockhopper Penguin colony. As a final treat for the day - an invigorating Subantarctic Plunge into cool blue waters topped off a super start to the year.
