Cruising into the New Year at Campbell Island
It was New Year's Eve as Heritage Adventurer slipped into Preservation Harbour in the early hours of the morning, with just a few keen birders out on deck to watch the various albatross species soaring in our wake. With a full day of adventure and excitement planned we piled into the Zodiacs on one of three different options for exploring Campbell Island:
An adventurous climb up Mt Honey, the highest point on Campbell Island, to take in the magnificent views;
A hike across the island to Northwest Bay, from harbour to the open sea, filled with wildlife encounters; or
A Zodiac cruise of the harbour and shoreline observing wildlife followed by an afternoon with the Southern Royal Albatross on Col Lyall.
Following an incredible day, our New Year's Eve festivities back on board Heritage Adventurer kicked off with a splendid five-course meal served by our talented dining staff and, for many, continued well after the Captain's midnight countdown as we danced our way into 2023.
