A wildlife spectacle at the Bounty Islands
The spectacle of Zodiac cruising around the Bounty Islands, one of the world’s true wildlife spectacles, will stay in our memories forever. Thousands of Salvin’s Albatrosses wheeled over these bare rocky stacks in glorious morning sunlight. Bounty Island Shags collected algae for nest building, Erect-crested Penguins launched themselves through bull kelp, and New Zealand Fur Seals scaled the slippery rocks to impossible heights. It was an incredibly captivating experience to watch.
Out at sea again, hundreds of albatrosses followed Heritage Adventurer as we headed north to the Chatham Islands, our final island destination on our Birding Down Under adventure.
