Visiting the Stilt Village of Pasir Putih
This morning, we visited the dramatic Buru Island and the Pasir Putih stilt village sitting on a beautiful lagoon directly under the 2,700-metre-high Mount Kapalatmada, the highest mountain on Buru.
We enjoyed an enthusiastic greeting as the entire town turned out to welcome us, as Heritage Adventurer is the only cruise ship that visits. We took some time to explore this idyllic town and meet the friendly locals as we got a sense of what it might be like to live in this unique environment.
Afterwards, we enjoyed a scenic Zodiac cruise around the lagoon, where we saw three crocodiles lounging on the banks. To finish a fantastic day of adventure, we enjoyed an immersive snorkel on the sprawling coral reef surrounding Buru Island.
