Along the shores of Tsoilik Island, New Ireland
Our next destination aboard Heritage Adventurer takes us to the immaculate region of New Ireland, where Tsoilik Island's local island band, complete with bass guitar and electric guitar, started our day off getting every passengers up and dancing and amazed at the ingenuity of getting a ready electrical supply. Today we had the opportunity of either the opportunity to join local guides taking us around their beautiful beach front village, while some passengers also ventured out into the lagoon by taking the local outrigger canoes. And for those set on relaxation: the pristine blue waters came with an opportunity to simply cool off and enjoy the island atmosphere. Another fantastic Papaua New Guinean welcome.
In the afternoon some of us then went snorkelling into the clear pacific waters experiencing the wonderful colours of the coral reef and the tropical fish which make this their home. We saw a multitude of fish including butterfly fish, Moorish idols, clown fish hiding in the anenomes, surgeon fish, parrot and pipe fish and many many more. Thanks to Courtenay Rayes our on board marine biologist who kindly assisted with Id'ing a lot of these. Another wonderful day in the Pacific finished with fantastic food and banter at dinner.
