Setting Sail on Southern Fiords Discovery

Long Arm, Preservation Inlet, C.Todd

Our Southern Fiords Discovery expedition began in picturesque Queenstown, then on to Te Anau, Lake Manapouri, and over the Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound. The first glimpse of our home for the week, Heritage Explorer, was framed by the steep-sided fiord and waterfalls characteristic of Fiordland. All aboard, we acquainted ourselves with the vessel and joined the Captain and the Expedition Team for an introduction and briefing about life aboard, and our upcoming expedition. With the last evening light, we made our way towards the end of Doubtful Sound for a sheltered night at anchor in First Arm.
