Exploring the iconic Horizontal Falls

Enjoying the beautiful sunrise, we sailed into Talbot Bay through the narrow passage past ‘Razor Rock’, heading for the iconic Horizontal Falls.

We boarded the Zodiacs and set off in low tide to make the most of this spectacular natural phenomenon. We adventured to Horizontal Falls where the water was ebbing, cruising in the rapids and witnessing the extraordinary strength of the tidal flow. Afterwards, we enjoyed a cruise up Cyclone Creek observing Brahminy Kites, Ospreys, Rainbow Bee-eaters, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, White-quilled Rock Pigeons, Flame-backed Fiddler Crabs, Rock-wallabies and more.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a Zodiac cruise to Dugong Bay, Dugongs however, being very elusive. The bay is large, with sheltered anchorages for boats and beautiful geological forms with rocks looking like ribbons with different layers of erosion. We explored the hidden nooks and crannies of the bay and kept our eyes peeled on mangroves with a sighting of a crocodile in the water!
