Crocodiles galore at Porosus Creek
Taking advantage of the low tide, we enjoyed a morning Zodiac cruise at Porosus Creek, the place of historical significance for explorer Phillip Parker King, and the low tide made the perfect environment to sight all the wonderful critters of the mangrove muddy environment. We cruised the river for 3 hours eagerly observing the geology, mangrove forests, mounds of mud, White-bellied Sea Eagles, Brahminy Kites, Chestnut Rails, Mudskippers, Fiddler Crabs and over 10 Crocodiles observed and photographed along the way.
The afternoon was a true expedition to explore the lands unseen at Prince Frederick Harbour towards the north of Murrara Island. As we approached, we saw ‘Thor’s Hammer’ as the rock pinnacle balances the weight of the hammer head above, we meandered the mangroves, passed through channels and enjoyed the scenery with the warmth between the clouds.
