Immersed in a world of colour at Ashmore Reef

After enjoying a sleep-in, followed by an informative morning learning about Ashmore Reef, we started our preparations for an afternoon of snorkelling. The afternoon commenced with gusto as we arrived at Ashmore Reef to the picturesque sight of pistachio clouds (clouds green from the reflection of the turquoise/green ocean). We commenced our snorkelling operations, heading out to the stunning reef to plunge into the warm water and marvel at the reef below. Looking at the blue sea stars, Surgeonfish, Butterflyfish, Staghorn Corals, Brain Corals and all the colours of the rainbow presented on the reef. A scenic Zodiac cruise allowed us to enjoy the fantastic flights of frigatebirds, boobies and various terns with sightings of a frigate chick onshore amongst the other nesting birds. Some observed Reef Manta Rays and Green Turtles from their Zodiacs as the birds flew overhead. 

After a fantastic day at Ashmore Reef, the day ended with a magnificent sunset back on board the comforts of Heritage Adventurer.
