Entering the picturesque waters of Doubtful Sound
A somewhat smooth passage through the straight and up the coastline overnight saw guests awake as Heritage Adventurer was entering Doubtful Sound. The weather was not looking promising with sheets of rain across the water, and torrential rain at times... however whilst guests enjoyed breakfast the weather lifted and the waterfalls came to life.
Active guests took off on a hike from Grono Bay to Gut Hut, whilst most others enjoyed a Zodiac cruise around the coastline of Resolution Island and Blanket Bay. The morning's heavy rain meant the waterfalls were spectacular and the unique flora and fauna were interpreted by the knowledgeable expedition team.
Over lunch Heritage Adventurer headed south and, after insightful lectures from the team on the area, she made her way through the picturesque Acheron Passage. Guests enjoyed amazing views from the Observation Lounge on deck seven, as well as the spacious outdoor areas.
An afternoon Zodiac ensured guests poked their nose into corners of Sportman's Cove and Cooper Island, with the odd cheeky Fiordland Crested-Penguin and Little Blue Penguin swimming past to say hello.
This evening Heritage Adventurer will remain at anchor in Dusky Sound, with the magnificent landscape ensuring a dinner to remember.
