Touring the Mangrove rich Frigate Island, Star Harbour, and Makira Island
As we neared the pristine sandy beach we knew we were in for a treat: the local village on Frigate Island, along with their Chief Alfred, were all out in traditional dress to welcome us ashore and introduce us to the traditional dances along with a chance to wander round the village for an insight into their lives, surrounded by pristine waters and mangroves. Some of us also ventured into the waters to enjoy the underwater world snorkelling. The local children were on an outing for their last day of school, having a wonderful time swimming with the passengers, and also enjoying rides on the zodiac. A wonderful morning and I know many of us would happily have spent much more time here.
Back on board we enjoyed an afternoon of informative lectures from Suzanne Noakes and Rod Morris whilst we made our way to our following days stop, Nendo Island Santa Cruz.
