All about the bird-of-paradise!
Our Indonesian Explorer voyage saw us continue our adventure in the stunning Raja Ampat regency as we arrived at Waigeo Island. Today, it was all about seeing the Wilson's and Red Bird-of-Paradise.
We had an early rise to head into the forest on Waigeo Island by sunrise. It was success all around as we observed the rarely seen mating dance and the incredible displays of lek behaviour from the males. We were treated to some stunning sights as we observed one Wilson's and around 20 Red Bird-of-Paradise.
After a delicious lunch back on board Heritage Adventurer, in the afternoon it was snorkelling at Friwen Island off a stunning white sand beach.
