Zodiac Cruising with Snares-crested Penguins
Despite the bumpy start to our Galapagos of the Southern Ocean voyage, courtesy of the Southern Ocean, The Snares treated us to some wonderful shelter from North East Island on arrival, which allowed us to launch the Zodiacs and explore the coastline in search of wildlife.
Zodiac cruising these rugged, rocky outcrops was filled with sightings and photographic opportunities started as soon as we hit the water with the first of the Buller's Albatross to return to the island and continuing through to Hooker's/New Zealand Sea Lions, New Zealand Fur Seals, Snares Tomtits and Snares Fernbirds, Skuas, forests of the large tree daisy Olearia lyallii and, of course, the ever impressive Snares-crested Penguins.
Very quickly an enchanting two hours passed and it was time to return to the Spirit of Enderby with memories to last a lifetime and photographs aplenty.
