Warm Sights and Freezing Heights at Ross Sea

Today was a sea day aboard Heritage Adventurer as she travelled between Franklin and Coleman Islands. The weather was fine and the sea calm with combinations of grease ice, pancake ice and pack ice providing a range of textures and colours- a fantastic photographic opportunity.

At the end of the day the ship was located adjacent to a large tabular iceberg which provided spectacular views during dinner.

We were informed by our Expedition Leader that it was time for any interested guests to take the 'Polar Plunge' before leaving the Ross Sea. This provided a great spectator sport for those out on the deck to observe and capture the many Kodak moments of the hardy souls brave enough to leap into the Antarctic water.

Afterwards Heritage Adventurer was abuzz with our newly-minted plungers, energised by their icy immersion, and a stunning sunset blanketing the iceberg and the surrounding landscape with a soft red glow and capping off another incredible day.
