Sunrise in Dusky Sound
The dusting of snow sprinkled over Fiordland yesterday increased in volume and decreased in altitude overnight. After a delicious hot breakfast and a scenic departure from our snug anchorage Heritage Explorer was on her way across Dusky Sound.
The scene before us was breathtaking - towering snow-covered mountains jutting out of the water as the rising sun cast a warm glow across the islands dotting Dusky Sound as it climbed into the morning sky. Taking the opportunity to pay homage to Captain Cook and his men at Pickersgill Harbour and Astronomer's Point, we then sailed onwards through Dusky Sound before entering the famed Acheron Passage and making our way north to Breaksea Sound.
During the afternoon rainbows and fish abounded as some guests tried their hand at catching dinner while others explored ashore. Dinner tonight was a delicious, and very fresh, catch of Blue Cod.
