Setting Sail for the Ross Sea

Having returned from her first Antarctic adventure the day before, our expedition team and crew had Akademik Shokalskiy ship shape and primed for her return, this time to the Ross Sea, when our excited expeditioners arrived at the Port of Bluff at 1530 hours.

With everyone welcomed on board and settled into their cabins and new home for the next month, we pulled anchor at 1700 hours and farewalled mainland New Zealand from the bridge and out on deck as we set sail south, steaming south towards our first Subantarctic islands - The Snares.
