Penguins, History and Chilly Dipping
It was an early start with a 0530 hour wake-up call and out in the Zodiacs 30 minutes later in search of Rock Hopper Penguins who were living up to their name bounding about the rocky shoreline at Musgrave Inlet. In a moment of perfect timing the sun broke through the early morning cloud painting the cliffs above pink and green with a dash of grey.
Adding mystery to the morning we cruised passed our trusty expedition ship Spirit of Enderby - where were we going next? - as we headed straight towards a cliff which, in the last moment, revealed a sea opening. Inside a spectacular natural cove we rafted together to enjoy a shared expedition moment with a welcome hot chocolate.
What a buzz this morning was, only to be followed by a visit to the historic Hardwicke Settlement site and a quick dip in the warm waters of Port Ross, well the sun was warm, before we set sail for Campbell Island.
