Kicking off the Best of New Zealand with Dusky Sound
Our Best of New Zealand expedition cruise kicked off with an action packed day as Heritage Adventurer sailed into Dusky Sound.
The morning excursion included two landings of historical significance, Astronomer's Point and Indian Island, both places Captain Cook visited in the late 1770s.
Cruising from these points back to the ship, guests enjoyed the stunning scenery and the thundering spectacle of Cascade Falls. After a delicious lunch on board everyone disembarked again, this time to enjoy the beauty of Sportsman Cove by Zodiac. The weather gods were smiling down on us and, since it was so warm, a few guests chose to cool off at a nearby waterfall.
Upon returning to the ship, Heritage Adventurer transited Acheron Passage from south to north and back again. Glenda was on hand to discuss the geology of the area and later John gave an entralling presentation on the history of Dusky Sound.
