The Hidden Treasures of Swift Bay

Blue skies and calm seas guided Heritage Adventurer into Swift Bay today, with an afternoon excursion to visit a rocky escarpment holding hidden treasures of both Wandjina and Gwion Gwion Indigenous Australian rock art.

Mystical paintings of huge Wandjina (rain maker spirit), crocodile, and turtles graced the ceiling of the first cave and, while some effort was required, we were richly rewarded as we admired and imagined a world that had gone before us, enthralled by this ancient art.

On the way home to Heritage Adventurer we detoured to see four Eastern Osprey chicks in a nest, spreading their wings to catch the breeze, and practising the art of flying. Back in the comfortable, air conditioned surrounds of our trusty expedition vessel, our nightly recap and drinks before dinner has became an increasingly social affair among new found friends.
