Feathered Escorts in Fiordland
Today we awoke to the calm after the storm and Fiordland was putting on a spectacular show. Despite the multitude of torrential waterfalls drying up overnight, we were blessed with views of the surrounding peaks and deep carved glacial valleys. After a hearty breakfast we steamed 20 minutes to our first adventure for the day and the chance to stretch our legs in Wet Jacket Arm. Making our way through the lush native forest we were joined by Kea, Tomtit and South Island Robin. Back on board Heritage Explorer it was time for lunch, expertly prepared by our wildly talented chef Seb, enjoyed as we cruised towards Dusky Sound and the Shag Islands. Boarding the Zodiac it was incredible to think we were following in the footsteps of Captain Cook, imagining the races they held during their time in Sportsman Cove. From here we enjoyed an amazing cruise into Fanny Bay and along Cook Channel to our picturesque anchorage at Cascade Cove.
