Exploring George Sound
Dawn arrived slowly in George Sound as shafts of morning light broke through the veil of cloud enveloping the mountain tops. After a delicious hot breakfast, courtesy of our chef Matt, and the remainder of our briefings, there was the opportunity to head ashore and enjoy a short walk along the George Sound Track and acquaint ourselves with the beautiful rain forest of Fiordland.
After lunch a group of the more active, or thrill-seeking, guests set off for the walk to Lake Katherine, while others took the option to visit Alice Falls and explore the coastline by Zodiac. This evening the rain started to increase after we were all comfortably back on board with the frontal weather moving across New Zealand. Warm and dry aboard Heritage Explorer, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of roast pork or seared tuna.
