Discovering the unknown on Hidden Island
Our day of adventure started early as we made the most of the cooler weather exploring the Edeline Islands within Strickland Bay.
The morning was spent Zodiac cruising the islands on a rising tide going into channels and bird watching, where Ospreys flew from their nests to fish and Kingfishers were spotted in the mangroves. We then landed on a stunning beach to explore. The geology was once again marvellous with striking siltstone structures offering us a new formation to check out and photograph.
We returned to Heritage Adventurer via a scenic Zodiac cruise, welcomed by Snubfin and Humpback Dolphins. After lunch, we headed for our last excursion before arriving in Broome, Hidden Island. ‘We found it!’ - this island has a pristine Silica Sand beach, and with the warmth of the afternoon and the expedition team posted on rocky outcrops and in Zodiacs for croc watch, we were able to enjoy a wade in the ocean. Afterwards, we walked along the beach and explored the nearby rocky hillsides. To close out the day and a great adventure, the beach bar was set up and we enjoyed an afternoon at leisure at this hidden paradise.
