Adventures at Carnley Harbour, Epigawaitt, Port Ross and Hardwicke

Carnley Harbour

Spirit of Enderby sailed into Carnley Harbour this morning beneath an overcast sky with white-caps roughening the sea's surface about us. Proceeding further into the embrace of the harbour we discovered sheltered waters and, following breakfast, an exploration by Zodiac was launched including a visit to the wreck of the Grafton at Epigwaitt.

Sailing along Auckland Island's beautiful fiord indented eastern coast we were treated to some beautiful coastal views and marvelled at the diversity of wind speeds within such a short distance as the wind descended through some valleys and not others. Arriving to Port Ross the Zodiacs were launched again, this time for a visit to the historic settlement of Hardwicke.

This concluded the day's activities with time to retire and enjoy a drink in the bar as the Spirit of Enderby anchored in the calm waters of Port Ross for the night.
