Celebrating Conservation Success at Great Barrier Island

It was a beautiful and busy day at Aotea/Great Barrier Island for all on board Heritage Adventurer.

First thing in the morning Steve, a conservation officer from Glenfern Sanctuary, came aboard to present on the incredible background of the area. The conservation dream come true was inspiring and everyone was delighted to be able to wander through the beautiful native forest, hear the birdsong, and gaze out from the majestic hilltop view point. Some courageous folk even ventured over the suspension bridge into the canopy of the old Kauri tree.

After a delicious lunch on board some chose to wander the Department of Conservation tracks through stunning native forest to a waterfall, while others enjoyed a Zodiac ride and swim under the warm sun.

Back on board we enjoyed refreshing poolside drinks on the top deck before recap and dinner to round off another fabulous day - our Best of New Zealand voyage is certainly living up to its name.
