Riding the rapid waters of Horizontal Falls

As Heritage Adventurer cut through the glassy water towards Talbot Bay, we listened and learned from our lecturers about the fabulous twisted geological folds in the landscape that surrounded us - the Horizontal Falls and Cyclone Creek.
Our itinerary placed us here in timing with the larger spring tides, so the power and force of the famous phenomenon was on full display where fast flowing water squeezed through two narrow gorges causing a horizontal waterfall and swirling whirlpools. In turn, each of our Zodiacs entered the flow for a bit of exhilarated fun and education within the ocean phenomenon.
Afterwards we enjoyed exploring the banks of Cyclone Creek, seeking shelter in shady nooks of the creek where the startling red trumpet-shaped Kimberley Rose flowers decorated the ledges of sandstone.
Back on board Heritage Adventurer, the enticing aroma of BBQ steak and seafood greeted us from the outdoor bistro dining area as we gathered together excitedly to share our stories of the day.
