Discovering the Heart of Misool Island
Pulling up at Misool Island just after breakfast on Day 2 of our 'Indonesian Explorer' voyage we found a great anchorage in the lee of the island. The exceptionally low tide allowed expeditioners to spend the morning Zodiac cruising the shoreline and marvelling at the towering limestone cliffs and colourful reef. During the afternoon we explored the serene beauty of heart-shaped Karawapop Lagoon nestled among the abrupt limestone hills that rise dramatically out of the sea. Most of us made the trek up a steep climb which afforded spectacular views overlooking the postcard perfect turquoise lagoon. We concluded our day's activities with a snorkel excursion and excellent introduction to life beneath the crystalline waters of Raja Ampat. All in all, a fabulous first expedition day on our inaugural Indonesian voyage.
