A delightful day in Dusky Sound, Fiordland
Our Beyond Fiordland & Unseen Fiordland & Stewart Island voyages continued as we rose at dawn in Dusky Sound for a range of activities themed around nature and conservation. We visited historic Pigeon Island, home of conservationist Richard Henry, and learned about his life and work performing the first bird translocations in New Zealand. A scenic Zodiac cruise around Facile Harbour was enjoyed in the morning before a delicious barbecue lunch on board.
In the afternoon, walkers departed to Anchor Island, enjoying the birdsong on the way to Lake Kirirua. Others opted for the awe-inspiring coastline cruise of the Many Islands, where several New Zealand Fur Seals reside and play in the crystal-clear waters. It was a beautiful first day in the postcard-perfect Fiordland.
