In the Wake of Scott & Shackleton: Ross Sea Antarctica
“I could not fault this adventure in any way”
“Going to Antarctica has been a dream of mine since I was a student at primary school doing projects about Antarctica - I am now 69 years old, so this trip was high on my bucket list. My main points of interest were going into the Ross Sea to see the huts built by the early explorers, to see any Antarctic Bases, the Ross Ice Shelf and the wildlife. That is why I chose Heritage Expeditions to travel with. The entire expedition adventure far exceeded my expectations from start to finish. Visiting all of the huts was the highlight of my voyage. We were lucky to have been able to do that. I am not usually interested in presentations and lectures, but I found the ones on the expedition to be very informative and were presented by people who are very passionate about what they do. This kept me interested and I surprised myself by attending all but one of them. I found Cathy Finch’s photography workshop to be especially beneficial as I had a new camera which I wasn't overly familiar with, so thanks to her workshop I have lots of great photos. The "rigidly flexible" mantra was great. With the "if the conditions are right, we will be going on an expedition no matter what the time is day or night" meant not an opportunity was missed. I also found all of the ship staff to be excellent and very friendly in all they did. All crew members were a friendly and approachable group of people who were very passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. They all went above and beyond any expectations I had. They worked hard to make our experience the best it could be which they certainly achieved. The chefs and kitchen staff supplied us with excellent and beautifully presented food throughout the trip. Overall I could not fault this adventure in any way. I have no hesitation in recommending Heritage Expeditions to anyone with an interest in visiting this magical place – Ross Sea Antarctica.”
