Zodiac Cruising at the Snares

Our special 'Forgotten Islands of the South Pacific' Expedition got underway from Bluff on Monday (4th January). The forecast was for gale force winds and so we sailed down east coast of Stewart Island and hove to off shore of Port Pegasus while the weather front with the strong N – NW winds passed over. It was very spectacular with winds up to 75 knots but as we were in the lee of the island it was sheltered. The weather system passed over quickly and we continued to the Snares Island where we were able to Zodiac cruise and enjoy Snares Crested Penguins, albatross, petrels, prions as well as Fur Seals and Sea Lions.

As we write this we are enjoying a smooth passage towards the Auckland Islands.
