Rough Times at Macca

We experienced 2+ metre movement on the gangway, making disembarkation by Zodiac impossible at Macquarie Island as we spent two days waiting patiently for conditions to ease.  The island was agonisingly close through our binoculars and some of the locals came out to greet us as you can see below.

Unfortunately the situation did not improve and reluctantly we continued south, our perfect record of landings no longer in tact. Everyone on board was hugely disappointed but it was a timely reminder of the power of nature over the aspirations of man.
