High Arctic Swim Club
Wrangel Island is now disappearing over the horizon behind us as we sail south. This morning we landed our five High Arctic Expedition members who will stay on Wrangel accompanying the rangers on their island patrols until we return. This very unique programme, exclusive to Heritage Expeditions, is made possible only through our close relationship with Reserve Management. I think most of us were just a little envious as we bade farewell to this select group that will spend a further 10 days on this enchanting island.
Before we pulled the Zodiacs out of the water and raised the gangway for our departure, there was one last activity on the agenda – initiation into the High Arctic Swim Club. With the water temperature at only .8 degrees, membership is not undertaken lightly, but the organisation recruited a few new members on this voyage!
