Emergency Supplies Delivered

Our first priority of the day when we arrived at Enderby Island yesterday was to unload helicopter fuel which is stored there for Search and Rescue Services to use for emergencies.  The Spirit of Enderby is one of the only vessels willing to do this on regular visits.

All passengers went ashore early and the majority headed off on an extended walk around the island. The rain arrived when we reached the halfway point, but it did not dampen the enthusiasm for this beautiful place. We saw everything Enderby Island has to offer but due to the conditions, good photographs were probably a rare thing.

Beautiful weather in Carnley Harbour today has more than made up for the rain yesterday. This huge glacially modified caldera offers some spectacular vistas and interesting chapters in human history. We paid visits to two historical sites – the 1864 wreck of the Grafton and the Erlangen clearing dating back to 1939 which led to the establishment of Coastwatchers on these far flung islands.
